It's quiet when closed (fully extended) all the way. Now I'm experiencing a new annoying noise-the moon roof liner rattles like rattle snake when it is opened all the way. Having done all that, I'm still hearing an occasional pop, but it's not as loud. This is where I applied lots of rubber weather strips. The plastic pieces make so much knocking/popping sounds when I press or push one again the other. Seems like the BMW engineers spent all their time making front cabin all nice and quiet however, they just said, "fuck it" we'll just use cheap noisy Chinese plastic molding for the under the cargo area liner. I've applied rubber weather strips to all the cheap plastic in the cargo area under the carpet. Not sure if my problem is seat latch related. But I was hearing the knocking sounds even with the back seats down. I will try the electrical tape method-Thank You for the photos. The last few days were in the high 70's.the freaking knocking noises are back. It was pouring rain 45 degrees (extreme cold for central Florida). I drove around with a BMW Tech."unable to replicate popping / knocking noises". The X5 was in service last week for noise. No idea if this helps at all, but I thought I'd put it out there just in case. I was skeptical, but the problem went away after they performed that service. They changed to a different lube for the diff, and had this crazy protocol of completing approximately 30 clockwise turns followed by the same number of turns in the opposite direction. This was diagnosed as an issue with the differential lubricant. It honestly sounded as if I had a bowling ball loose in my trunk. the sharper the turn, the more pronounced the clunk. HOWEVER, I had an E92 M3 that had a horrendous clunking sound during turns. I drive an F15 X5 35d and have not heard this sound in that vehicle. Anyone else hearing this? I wonder if it's coming from the suspension.įor what it's worth. I've checked everything on the interior to make sure everything is secure, but I can't seem to find anything. When I am driving <20 mph and going over bumps, I am hearing a "clack" or knocking sound coming from the rear.
